Signatures of neighbors, natives, and local historians, along with historical documents, proved the park was in fact dubbed “Sloan’s Lake.” In 2002, the city complied and the signs were later modified with the correct name: Sloan’s Lake Park. Even so, the City of Denver officially uses Sloan Lake for the name of the neighborhood. Dead fish on the shoreline of Sloan Lake on Aug. Kristy Richardson, state toxicologist, said if you suspect toxic algae is present in a waterway, do not let kids, pets or livestock near.

Beginning June 5, 2020: DPR is settting up nets in preparation to open all outdoor athletic courts (basketball, tennis, pickleball, futsal). The use of shared recreational equipment in parks will be allowed. Recreation activity must be conducted in groups of 10 or fewer, participants spaced at least six feet apart, face coverings worn if feasible, and appropriate sanitation and hygiene practices must be observed. Bike parks and skate parks are also open.

With the Rocky Mountains as a backdrop, Denver's park system connects people throughout the city with the great outdoors. Denver parks are an intersection of nature and urban environments; of historical design and innovation; of public and private partnerships; and of arts and culture.

The park system serves the city's diverse neighborhoods with expansive open green spaces, pocket parks, tree-lined streets, historic parkways and regional trails.
